A few years ago, famed German auto tuner BRABUS debuted its ROCKET engine platform — a new 4.5-liter Biturbo V8 that produces the same 900hp as the firm’s outgoing 6.3L twin-turbo V12, albeit with less displacement and 1/3 fewer cylinders. And after releasing a handful of ROCKET 900-powered models — like the Mercedes G-Wagen and AMG G63 SUV — the company has now opted to shoehorn its ultra-potent powertrain into MB’s AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ sedan, resulting in a more discreet and understated package that still packs that performance and oomph that BRABUS builds are so famous for.
Receiving a similar treatment to BRABUS’ AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ from late 2020, the 4.5-liter Biturbo V8 at the heart of the new car is good for 900hp and 922ft-lbs of torque, allowing for 0-60mph runs in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 205mph — 20mph faster than the already impressive stock AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+. On top of BRABUS badging, the exterior has been treated to a BRABUS front spoiler, front fascia, front grille inserts, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, illuminated grille, and double-b pillar inserts — all of which are made from carbon fiber.
The interior also sports illuminated BRABUS-logoed carbon fiber door sills, aluminum pedal pads, BRABUS door latch pins, and custom leather upholstery that’s built to the buyer’s exact specification. Other noteworthy upgrades include 21” BRABUS Monoblock Z “Platinum Edition” forged wheels, an adjustable valve-controlled BRABUS sports exhaust system, the BRABUS AIRMATIC SPORT-Unit suspension package, and a red carbon fiber engine cover with a horsepower chart motif and the signature of the expert mechanic that handbuilt the forced-induction 900-hp eight-banger.
Described by the manufacturer as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” the 2022 BRABUS 900 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ is available now in limited numbers. And while pricing has yet to be revealed, we anticipate it costing a good deal more than the donor E 63 S 4MATIC+’s $107,500 MSRP.
